La Loser

So.. I'm going to skip the part where I say I haven't blogged in forever, but I'm going to try to start doing it again, blah blah blah... because let's be honest, 1. no one reads this any more and 2. you would all know I'm lying and won't write again for another six months... so there you have it.

So, this past weekend I was enjoying a leisurely Saturday (or perhaps Sunday, who knows?) and found myself roaming the Fashion Mall. I have a few essential stops at the Fashion Mall. 1. Coach 2. The Apple Store 3. Teavana There are several others that I visit sporadically, but it's very rare that I don't at least swing in all three of those if I'm there.

As I'm hanging out in the Apple store I happen to notice a woman walk in the front of the store with a green Biggest Loser t-shirt on (as in the t-shirt the contestants wear on the show). I look and don't really recognize the face, but then realize that the man standing next to her also has the t-shirt on (tucked into his khaki shorts... don't even get me started on that!!!). Next thing I know, people are taking their pictures with the man. I finally get a good look at him and decide, yes he does look familiar. I think he was on last season (not the one that just ended a month or so ago, but the one before that). I remember that there was a guy on the show who was from Indiana because it wasn't until he was sent home that we actually realized he was from Indiana.

They eventually leave the store and I finish my conversation with the Apple guy (who couldn't really answer any of my questions, was fascinated by my nape piercing, and I think might have been awkwardly trying to flirt with me) and head out myself. As I step into the hallway I see them, again posing with people for pictures.

So here's the thing.... 1. I get that people want to take pics with celebrities. (I have pics of myself with Brandon Stokley, Dallas Clark, Buckcherry, etc.) But this guy is a reality TV star, who frankly wasn't even that memorable. 2. If he hadn't been wearing the shirt, I seriously doubt many (if any) people would have recognized him. 3. I'm pretty sure he had gained weight back, and I'm not talking 5-10 pounds, I'm thinking at least 30.

I'm trying to go with the theory that he had some kind of Biggest Loser event that he was at or going to, and that's why he was wearing the shirt.... otherwise I think it's terribly narcissistic. Then again, perhaps I'm just terribly pessimistic.
